A-Z challenge Eve

Twas the night before A-Z April, when all through the house
Not a keyboard was stirring, not even a mouse.
The Laptops were ready, the notebooks were there,
In hopes that our followers, would all come and share.....

Yes its A-Z Eve. 1400 bloggers plan to post every day but Sundays for the month of April basing posts on ascending letters of the alphabet. To quote something I read, but cant remember where (sorry)

"Blogging, never have so many said so much about so little

Hand in hand with this hairy mammoth of a task, we will all be trying to read as many of the other bloggers posts as possible! We must be mad, under worked or just have to much time on our hands, else we just enjoy this form of expression know as BLOGS

Just to make you smile

Some people are like slinkies, not really good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs

(modified from a post I made exactly one year ago)

Sad Songs

Today's post is part of a blog-fest to share Sad Songs. The other participants can be found HERE

The idea is to "List the songs that move your spirit, cut deep into your soul, and threaten to break your heart." It has taken me a while to come up with a list, not least because I also wanted to provide access to the songs in case you haven't heard them before. So there was a fair bit of searching YouTube to bring the list! So here it is in No particular order...

Artist : Pavlovs Dog
Track : Julia

Reason. When I listen to this I think of looking through a window in autumn and missing the summer. The lyrics speak of being so in love you cant live without that persons reciprocated love

Artist : Various (BBC Children in need single)
Track : Perfect Day

Reason. Perhaps not sad, but has a melancholy tune and thoughtfully delivered lyrics.

Artist : Eric Clapton
Track : Tears in Heaven

Reason. Written after the death of his son... Don't think I need to say any more.

Artist : Sinead O'Connor
Track : Nothing Compares to You

Reason. Seeing an artist shed real tears, due to the emotion of a song is very moving.

The following clip was the original video and i could only find it on Vevo which will not properly embed on blogger, you may be asked to click the link to watch on YouTube.

Bloggers

Not sure how many, if any of you have come across a site called Bloggers its a pretty active sharing place for people that blog. I haven't got my head round all of it yet, but the basic principal is you fill out your profile with info about your blog. People then befriend each other, it generates potential contacts / followers for you blog. i joined 24 hours ago and have already had 15 bloggers requested to be friends and added 2 followers to my blog. The spread of backgrounds and nationalities is quite divers so it seems a good place to widen your blogging horizons. If you do sign up search me out and add me as a friend !

They can also be found on twitter HERE

It may be worth checking out ??

About RJR Daydreamer

As I have started to work my way through the list of 1000 plus participants in the #AtoZchallenge, I have noticed that a vast percentage of those I have clicked on are authors or aspiring authors. To the point that I for a brief moment wondered if I fitted in. Thinking it would be nice to know a little about the person behind each of the blogs I visited, I began to wonder what people would learn about me on a casual visit here. Blogger does have an "about" section that many people use but it is only a snippet of a story. I like to know something about the bloggers I follow and thought it only fair to offer the same to others.

I am in no way, shape or form, an author and have no desire to be so. I don't blog for profit as you will see there are no adverts here. I blog about what ever takes strikes a chord in my life. Most of it is observations, humour and experiences I have had. I haver been blogging for about a year and by the time you have read this my hit counter will have rolled past 50,000 which amazes me.

The picture is my family and I. One of the first things people notice about us is, we are all tall. We don't often loose each other when split up in the supermarket ! I am hanging on to the position of tallest in the family at 6'1" but as the picture shows Jake in the foreground has almost caught me and he is only 16. (He is closer to the camera in this picture !)

Mrs RJR and I have been married 20 years and our 3 children are, Rachel 18, Jacob 16, Ruth 13. Many of the things I blog about are influenced by my family and the fact we are Latter Day Saints (Mormons) but this blog is not full of religious content. If you want to know more about my church life I have two other blogs. One is aimed at the Seminary class I teach and the other relates to the Institute class I teach.
Following me at RJR Daydreamer will not give you a religious overdose, just a few smiles, laughs and things about life to muse over.

In my spare time I build scale models, often related to trains but currently more boat related, this is the current model I am working on, all made without plans from sheets of plastic.

Again this is not what this blog is generally about, so I have a blog for that too RJR Models. I earn my living with my own company that undertakes property maintenance for commercial and domestic customers. Mrs RJR is a physiotherapist at a hospital and specializes in Neurological based problems.

For the A - Z Challenge I don't plan to have a theme just whatever takes my fancy for each of the days, which is what I did last year.

I look forward to meeting many of the challenge participants this year. Last year I managed to click on the link for everyone taking part, but I won't manage that this year. I plan to pick and choose blogs and get more of a feeling for them than quick visits achieve. Also trying to get to know those that comment here better.

Roll on April !!!

Bill Dance

I'm guessing Bill Dance is more of a celebrity in the US than he is here in the UK. F|or those that don't know he makes DVDs about fishing. This image was taken from his rather slick looking website Bill Dance Outdoors

I only found out about Bill yesterday when my son shared a "bloopers" video with me, we were in stitches as we watched it together.
Bill if you ever come across this blog. Thank your for 3.02 minutes of fun... Ps I hope the camera man has dried off !

I enjoyed it so much I went looking for more ...

I hope this brought a smile to your face !

Deep Conversations and the Rasperry Pi

On Tuesday "The boy" shared a link on my Facebook wall about computing, its a shared interest and the topic of many a conversation. This particular one went a little wrong, my spelling let me down and before you know it he had the upper hand ! I find it quite humorous, you may too..

On another similar note, have you heard about the new Rasberry Pi?

Its a credit sized computer that is around £20, hook up a monitor and keyboard and away you go. It is designed to get people interested in the basics of computing and programming. In much the same way that computers in the 80's did. The theory is to re-engage kids in particular to the practicalities of computing design, not just buy and use. Jake and I have one on order :)
